Homecare

For people requiring full time assistance, and preferring to stay in the comfort of their own home we welcome you to the perfect solution. An initial phone call will leave you fully assured of the service we offer and answer any queries and questions you may have.

Upon deciding 247 Professional Health is the best option, a meeting is arranged with a Care Coordinator to visit the client plus any family members who wish to be present. The aim of the meeting is to introduce 247 Professional Health and talk with you to gain an insight into the service we will be required to perform.

By having an informal discussion with the Client and others present, the Care Plan Co-ordinator is subtly ascertaining exactly what level of service is required. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that make all the difference; from breakfast in bed, to a much loved pet being walked at a specific time, from having clothes ironed in a particular fashion, to having your hair done just so, our service allows us to be this specific to enable the most professional and pleasing service.

After the meeting, a bespoke Care Plan is drawn up which provides guidelines appertaining to the tasks that the 247homecare is required to do on a daily basis.

Once a specific Care Plan has been developed one of our Office Team will call with detailed costs of the care package and enquire as to whether you/the Client are happy and wish to proceed with Access Care.

Scheduled Reviews of Care Plans are conducted on an annual basis as part of the Clients ‘Case management’ and as and when circumstances change, to ensure we are always providing the exact service required.

We also ensure we speak to all of our Carers each week to ensure we are kept abreast of circumstances that may dictate a change in the service we are providing. This way we are also able to keep concerned relatives informed as to the welfare of a loved one.

Funding

For those seeking an alternative to a Nursing or Residential Home there may be various forms of funding available to help. These methods can indeed help individuals and their families with the costs of 247 Professional Health.

  1. Central Funding. The Government provides financial assistance, advice and other forms of funding support to most elderly, sick or disabled people who need help with their personal care and/or nursing. Below is a list of the most common methods of funding care, useful phone numbers and links to informative websites that we hope may be able to help.
  2. Private Funding. You can of course pay for any care you wish to receive (for yourself or a family member) privately without having to complete any government forms, or you may wish to take out a care fee payment plan which will cover the cost of your care. For more information on this we would suggest that you speak with your financial advisor
  3. Direct Payments & Self Directed Support (SDS). The newly developed government initiative - ‘Self Directed Support’, (which allows an individual absolute freedom of choice with regard to the type of care they wish to have, who provides it, and where it is) is leading to a sharp increase in the demand for 247 Professional Health.  We are currently working hard to tailor our quotations to help those that are/ or will be in receipt of SDS to make the process as easy as possible.  Click here for further information on Direct Payments
  4. Attendance Allowance. Attendance Allowance is a tax free benefit for people over the age of 65 who need help with personal care such as getting in and out of bed, washing, eating, medication or mobility; or because they can become confused and need someone to watch over them.

  6. Carer’s Allowance. Carers Allowance is a taxable benefit for people (such as a friend or family member) who look after someone who already receives an Attendance Allowance or a Disability Livings Allowance. Extra expenses may be claimed for paying a third party to provide care while you are out of the house.

  8. Disability Living Allowance. You may be entitled to a Disability Living Allowance if:
    1. You have a physical or mental disability
    2. Your disability is severe enough for you to need help caring for yourself
    3. You have walking difficulties
    4. You are under 65 when you claim
  9. Continuing NHS Health Care. Those people with a ‘complex medical condition that requires a lot of care and support, and/or very specialise nursing support’ are entitled to receive financial help “in any setting” – including your own home from the NHS. It is intended to cover the entire costs of care including all medical care and nursing care. Telephone NHS Direct on 0845 4647 ask for details of your local Patient Advise and Liaison service – PALS. Click here for further information on Continuing NHS Health Care
  10. Independent Living Fund. Independent Living Funds (ILF) are set up and financed by central government. It pays grants to people with high support needs who wish to live independently in their own homes. ILF is not means tested.

The frequently asked questions

Understandably, the most questions we are asked when people enquire into 247 Professional Health is about the Carers themselves. Who are they? Where are they from? How are they trained? Etc.

Currently registered with us we have a diverse and eclectic mix of Carers. Just like our Clients, our Care Workers are every age, colour and creed and from all walks of life. Having such a broad spectrum of person allows us to find truly ideal matches to our varied client type.

  1. Where do your Carers come from? At present many originate from Eastern Europe yet we have male & female Carers registered from India, Africa, Portugal & the UK as well.
  2. Do they speak English/any other language? An applicant’s level of spoken and written English is assessed at interview. They will not pass their induction period and therefore not be introduced to a Client by us unless we deem their English to be fully comprehendible. Many of our Carers are bi, if not tri-lingual which is an added string to their bow as we have Clients of many varying ethnicities too.
  3. Can the Carers drive my car or do they have their own cars? It is very difficult to find a 247 Professional Health with their own car. If a Client requires someone to drive them (perhaps due to a rural locality) then it is suggested they provide a car for their Carer/s to drive. We do have Carers registered with us with full driving licences; however, it is fair to say that the majority do not.
  4. Can we interview/meet the Carers prior to you formally introducing them to us? Unfortunately, due to the nature of 247 Professional Health, this is not possible. Carers travel from placement to placement and therefore do not have the availability to travel to individual interviews. Head Office has portfolios of each Carer on file and it is possible to request these once we have informed you of the Carer that will be coming to stay so that the Client may familiarise him/herself with them before they arrive. It is our job to provide you with the security of mind that we have introduced the best match possible for the particular needs of the Client. If at any time you feel we are falling short of this then please contact the 247 Professional Health Managers immediately.
  5. Are 247 Professional Health ‘Care Workers’ employed or self-employed? 247 Professional Health ‘Care Workers’ are self-employed so they are responsible for their own tax and national insurance contributions. However, this does not mean that stringent recruitment checks are not performed before we allow them to register with us (see below).
  6. What recruitment checks do you do? Through vigorous recruitment and selection procedures 247 Professional Health aims to ensure the well-being, security and health of all of our Service Users. In the first instance the company sends out the registration form, along with the job description.
  7. What Training do the Carers do prior to placement or introduction? We pride ourselves on the level of Training our 247 Professional Health carers undergo prior to placement and ensure that we are fully confident in their ability to perform all that will be asked of them. All our Carers are trained by industry experts. They attend either a two or four day residential training course (depending on their experience) and each undergoes a full and thorough induction to the Agency.

All applications are processed in the same way, Applicants for interview are selected based on merit and ability alone. Newly registered care workers will not be accepted on to our Register or indeed offered an introduction until numerous checks have been carried out.  We are always pleased to train our Carers to deal with specialised conditions where necessary.

247 Homecare is a truly viable financial option and is certainly comparable many of the UK’s Residential & Nursing homes.

Of course, 247 Professional Health is accessible to everyone, no matter how the care is to be funded. Each care package is looked upon individually and assessed on a level of dependency to ascertain the true level of support required before a firm cost can be provided. 247 Professional Health is certainly a truly viable alternative to a Residential Home, allowing people to maintain independence in the peace and comfort of their own home.

Please do contact us by phone on 0845 4097 247 to discuss the package you require so that we may provide a more accurate quote.
