Cash bonus to give young jobless a start in social care

You will recall the Budget 2009 announced £75 million of funding for the Care First Careers initiative, which has the ambition to help create up 50,000 job opportunities for young people in the adult social care sector. Social care employers will receive a £1000 subsidy for every eligible unemployed person they take on. Following a pilot programme, the scheme has now been launched across Great Britain. Administered across the Jobcentre Plus network in England, Scotland and Wales, this is an part of a range of new initiatives helping young people between 18-24 who have been looking for work for six months into employment or training. UKHCA encourages members to find out more about the initiative by visiting the following dedicated website:
